The Okotoks Dawgs are pleased to announce that Cesar Valero, a Dawgs homegrown product, has accepted a scholarship and has verbally committed to play college baseball at the #1 NCAA Division program in the country, Oregon State University.
Valero, a Venezuelan-born Canadian, first joined the Dawgs Academy in the fall of 2014 and it didn't take him long to start developing rapidly and catch the eyes of professional scouts and Universities across North America.
Barely 15 years old, Valero has been invited to some of the most prestigious tournaments and showcases in youth baseball. Including, the prestigious T12 Tournament held at Rogers Centre, home of the Blue Jays (also the youngest player to attend at the age of 14). Most recently, he attended the Perfect Game World Wood Bat Underclassmen Championship and showcased at the Perfect Game 2017 World Showcase.
“Cesar Valero is a 2019 Middle INF/OF with a 6-1 172 lb. frame from Calgary, AB who attends Okotoks Dawgs Academy. Nice athletic build for a sophomore, has some present strength and is physically projectable. 7.15 runner, has balanced and athletic actions on defense, plays under control and has soft hand and a smooth exchange and release, makes very accurate throws with developing arm strength. Right handed hitter, starts from a narrow open stance with a big stride into contact, long and loose swing with good present bat speed and more to come, has long arms and may have to shorten path in the future, showed some young power and ball comes off the barrel well, middle of the field approach. Very projectable young athlete with lots of skills for his age in addition to his physical tools. Follow closely.” - Perfect Game World Showcase
When Valero was asked about his commitment to play at Oregon State University - “it was 100% a no brainer to commit on the spot and become a Beaver. I am very grateful for the support of my family, friends and coaches. I feel blessed for this opportunity!”
